Suzuki Gixxer – The 155cc Naked Bike with Promising Features & Look

Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) launched the 155cc naked bike Gixxer in India. Suzuki called the Gixxer a Street Sport motorcycle built for young generation.

Suzuki Gixxer has the same genes as GX-R1000. The Gixxer is powered by a 155cc single cylinder air cooled engine equipped with a 5-speed gearbox. Suzuki comes with up new engine technology called SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance). The Ultra-light weight engine will deliver power without compromising on fuel economy. This new engine will give exceptional running performance with a broad low-end torque and dynamic mid-range power for strong acceleration.  The 155cc engine will give the maximum power of 14.8 PS @ 8000 RPM and torque of 14 Nm @ 6000 RPM.

Suzuki Gixxer claims the Fuel Efficiency of 63 kmpl.

Suzuki is still using Carburettor Fuel System while there competitors are using Fuel Injector. Suzuki believes that Carburettor Fuel system will work similar like Fuel injector and is cost effective too. The company also believes the Drum Rear brakes are quite effective.

First Impression

Suzuki Gixxer will directly compete with Yamaha FZ 2.0, Hero Xtreme, Honda Trigger and the upcoming Pulsar 150 NS. The Gixxer was first unveiled at Auto Expo 2014 and since then it generates pretty good hype in the market.

The good thing about the bike is just not performance oriented, but also take care of fuel efficiency, Suzuki new engine technology and RPM controller will give both performance and fuel economy. The first thing you’ll notice is muscular design, stylish V-shaped headlamps, fuel tank, alloy wheels, fat chunky twin outlets and black color all over the bike.

On back the grab-bars integrate with its tail and LED unit could be better, but overall the bike gives you premium look. The digital instrument displays the following information: speedometer, fuel-gauge, gear indicator, clock, warning flash light,odometer and trip-meters.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to test drive the bike so I can’t tell how’s the performance on the road.
