Sachin Tendulkar has unveiled the BMW i8 – the hybrid vehicle in India at Auto Expo 2014. The BMW i8 will be launched in India as a CBU (Completely Built-up) until by the end of 2014.
The intelligent plug-in hybrid system in the BMW i8 uses both electric motor and a petrol engine. With BMW eDrive, the battery can be charged from any mains socket or while driving.
The BMW i8 has electric drive, a powerful 96 kW is located on the front axle. The rear axle is driven by BMW TwinPower Turbo 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 170 kW of peak performance.To experience the BMW driving pleasure, customers can combine the petrol engine with the electric boost, together the two units deliver a total of 362 HP. The BMW i8 will sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds using all four wheels in the process. On battery power, BMW i8 will achieve the top speed of 120 kmph with maximum range of 35 Km. Combining both engines will boost e-car to 250 kmph.
